Baja California Sur is one of the 31 states with the Federal District make up the 32 states of Mexico.

Baja California Sur is located in the north-west, occupying the southern half of the Baja California Peninsula. Its northern border state of Baja California is located above the 28th parallel, east to the Sea of Cortez and south and west by the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is the city of La Paz. It covers an area of 73 475 km ², occupying 3.8% of the country.
